Nothing sells a lighting job like showing the customer their own house lit up. The mockup tool lives at step 3 of the quoter: freeze a Street View angle (or use your own photo), click along the roofline to draw the lights, add décor, and flip to night mode.
One thing worth knowing up front: the mockup photo and the measuring photo are separate. Drawing lights doesn’t measure anything, and measuring doesn’t draw — step 2 sets the price, step 3 sells it.
Get a photo to draw on
- 📸 Freeze & Draw Lights — pan and zoom the Street View pane to the best angle, then freeze it as your drawing canvas.
- 📷 Upload a Property Photo — skip Street View and use your own photo. Better for new construction, long driveways, or when Street View’s angle is stale.
Want multiple angles? Each view is its own tab (View 1, View 2, …) — click + to add another. Every view gets its own photo and drawing, and all of them go to the customer.
Draw the lights
Click along the roofline — lights follow your clicks. ✂ New Run starts a separate section (say, a lower gable).
In Colors, Sizes & Décor Tools:
- Colors — White, Warm White, Red, Green, Blue; choose ● Solid or ◉ Multi to build a repeating pattern of colors.
- Bulb Size and Spacing sliders tune the look.
- Click an existing run on the canvas to change its color after the fact.
- Décor — 🎄 Wreath, 🌿 Garland, 🌲 Tree / Bush, 🏛 Column. Drag them into place.
Flip ☀ Day / 🌙 Night to preview it after dark — night mode is usually what closes the deal.
Décor is visual only. Wreaths, garland, and trees you draw don’t change the price — the total comes from your roofline measurement. The app reminds you: add drawn décor under Décor & Add-Ons so it’s on the bill. This is the most common mockup mistake.
Save it
Click ✓ Save Mockup. LightQuoter composites the photo and lights, stamps your company logo and the measured footage in the corners, and attaches it to the quote — you’ll see “✓ Mockup saved — will appear in PDF & quote.” (Saving the quote also auto-saves any unsaved mockup work.)
The customer sees every view at the top of their quote page, in the PDF, and in the quote email.
Troubleshooting
- “Could not save mockup … the Street View image blocked canvas export.” Occasionally a Street View frame can’t be exported. Refresh the page, freeze the angle again, and redraw — or upload your own photo instead.
- ↩ Back to Street View erases the current view’s drawing — photo, lights, and décor for that tab — so it can re-frame from scratch. Save the mockup first if you want to keep it.
- Mockup missing from the PDF — reopen the quote, make sure the mockup tab shows your drawing, and hit ✓ Save Mockup again before exporting.
- Lights look wrong at night — bump Bulb Size up a notch; small bulbs on a dark photo can disappear at customer screen sizes.
