Multi-year agreements are how you lock in next season before your competitors ever get a call. LightQuoter lets you offer 1-, 2-, and 3-year terms with a per-year discount for committing longer — and the customer picks their term right on the quote page.
Set it up on the quote
In the quoter’s pricing sidebar:
- Set your 2-year discount and 3-year discount (percent off the annual price — the fields default to 5% and 10%).
- In Contract Options, pick the longest term you want to offer — 1 Year, 2 Years, or 3 Years. That’s the maximum; the customer can choose anything up to it.
Two things to know:
- Your discount numbers are remembered on this browser for your next quote — they’re not an account-wide setting, so set them again if you switch computers.
- Picking a tier on a quote you’ve already sent saves the quote immediately, so the customer’s live link always shows a working contract picker. That also means edits are live — settle your numbers before you hit send.
What the customer sees
Their quote page shows Choose Your Contract — a card per term: 1-Year Agreement at the standard rate, 2-Year and 3-Year with “Save n% · $X off per year”. Clicking a card updates the total to that term’s per-year price. The longest term you offered comes pre-selected.
When they sign, the term they chose is locked in: the picker freezes, and their deposit, balance, and invoice are all calculated from the signed term’s per-year price. A customer who signs 2-year on a 3-year quote is billed at the 2-year rate — always.
The math, plainly
The discount is a simple percentage off the annual total — it doesn’t compound and there’s no lump sum. Example, $2,000/yr quote:
| Term | Discount | Price per year | Term total | Customer saves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Year | — | $2,000 | $2,000 | — |
| 2 Years | 5% | $1,900 | $3,800 | $200 |
| 3 Years | 10% | $1,800 | $5,400 | $600 |
Your deposit percentage applies to the discounted per-year price, so a 3-year signer’s deposit is a little smaller than a 1-year signer’s — that’s correct, not a bug.
Tracking the term afterward
- Quoter — the signed badge reads “✅ Signed by {name} on {date} · 3-Year Agreement”, and the payment panel shows a term pill next to the totals.
- Customer profile — the Contract Status card shows where they are: “Year 2 of 3 — Active 🔒”, “Final Year ⚠️” when it’s time to re-sign, or “Contract expired”.
- Renewals page — a Contract column carries the same badges, so each fall you can see at a glance who’s locked in and who needs a fresh quote. In-term customers get a Confirm & Send button (nothing sends without your click).
- PDF & email — signed multi-year quotes show the term, the per-year price, and “You save $X over n years.”
Troubleshooting
- Customer doesn’t see the contract picker — the quote was saved with 1 Year selected (no picker renders for single-year quotes), or it’s a Permanent install. Select the term you want to offer and the live link updates.
- Discounts came up 5% and 10% on a new quote — those are the shipped defaults. Type your own numbers; they’ll stick for your next quotes on that browser.
- Need different terms for one customer — everything here is per-quote: set that quote’s discounts and max term however you like without touching other quotes.
